growth
Held annually in every province and territory, over 55,000 people have taken part in PGIs across the country since 1986.
Money raised for literacy
In the process, more than $14.9 million has been raised for volunteer-based literacy programs. These funds directly support literacy initiatives in the provinces and territories where the PGIs are held.
Our Mission
Nowhere else in Canada will you find fundraising events like the PGIs. Groups of highly motivated local volunteers supported by well- known Canadian writers, poets, musicians and other celebrities coming together to raise funds for literacy. With at least one PGI in every province and territory, the reach of the PGIs’ far exceeds that of any other literacy fundraising event in Canada. Every dollar raised at both the national and local level is directed to literacy programs in the communities in which the tournaments and fundraising events take place.
